Isaac Gwaro Bosire

Board Chairperson

Isaac Gwaro is a trained environmental professional with a knack for environmental conservation management and climate change. Through his academic training, Isaac holds a BSc in Environmental Conservation & Natural Resource Management from the University of Nairobi. At the postgraduate level, he holds a Masters in Climate Change & Sustainability from Kenyatta University. His masters dissertation focused on “Small-scale Farmers’ Adaptation to Climate Variability.” He is a registered environmental impact assessment expert with the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA-Kenya) and a member of the Environmental Institute of Kenya (EIK). He has vast experience in the green economy, sustainable development, and climate-smart agriculture.

Beth Wangui Waweru

Board Secretary

Beth Wangui Waweru is a PhD student pursuing a degree in Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University, Belgium. Her passion for the environment started at a young age and she decided to pursue Environmental Conservation and Natural Resource Management for her undergraduate degree at University of Nairobi. The rising global temperatures and shifting climatical zones are her source of motivation and have propelled her to advocate for sustainable development. She has been keen on re-afforestation of Mau forest,  mangrove research in Mida creek and orphan crop production by small scale farmers as an adaptive measure for climate change. Her hobbies include; farming, decorating, biking and travelling

Agnes Mukami Muriuki

Director Coastal and Marine Protection, Restoration and Enhancement

Agnes Mukami is a research scientist with a multidisciplinary background in climate change, marine resources management and information technology. She has a degree in Environmental Conservation and Natural Resources Management from the University of Nairobi and is in the process of finalizing her Masters of Science degree in Biology of Conservation at the same University. Currently, she is a research associate in KMFRI and part of early career scientists supporting the implementation of Kenya’s Blue Economy Strategy, leveraging coastal and marine ecosystems for climate change mitigation and adaptation. Her main areas of expertise are mangrove restoration, marine and coastal ecotourism, carbon trading, efficient stoves adoption, marine waste management, community and schools environmental awareness as well as aquaculture technology adoption and management.

Denis Karani Nyaga

Director Programs

Denis is a passionate environmental analyst. He studied an Undergraduate Degree in Environmental Conservation and Natural Resources Management from the University of Nairobi. He is currently undertaking a Master of Science in Agroecology Management and Environment. He is dedicated to designing and assessing the environmental impact of development plans. Proficient at completing environmental assessments on upcoming projects, developing and implementing environmental improvement programs, and collecting and analyzing field data. He has worked with organizations such as NEMA ,Safaricom PLC and Embu County. His leadership areas include strategic planning and environmental risk assessments. Denis is also a registered member of the Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK) and an Associate Expert with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

Denis Munene

Director Legal Affairs

Denis Munene is a seasoned Environmental, Social and Governance expert that has worked widely with a range of clients (from Banks, DFI’s, PE’s and Companies) in providing ESG advisory services such as the development of Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS), undertaking ESDD assignments, E&S risk advisory services etc. Denis started off his career in the energy sector having worked at the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) the largest energy producer in East Africa in the environmental sustainability department before moving into the ESG advisory space. Denis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Kenyatta University (Kenya) and is currently finalizing his Masters in Environmental Law at the University of Nairobi where he is undertaking a study on climate change risks and the banking sector in Kenya. He has undertaken training in Occupational Health and Safety organized by the Kenya Association of Manufacturers, registered with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA Kenya) as an Associate EIA/EA expert and an Associate Member of the Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK).
